About ETC NI

Engineering Training Council is an employer-led body, governed by a council whose members are elected to ensure a broad representation of the engineering community.

ETC's vision is that the provision of engineering training and education in Northern Ireland is second to none. The Council supports the engineering manufacture sector by:

  • Identifying skill requirements and training needs of the industry
  • Representing the industry's training interest to the Government
  • Promoting initiatives such as National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Investors In People and Modern Apprenticeships.
  • Promoting engineering as a career to young people by providing information and advice to schools, career advisors and directly to young people and their parents.

In order to provide a quality service for the engineering industry  ETC  liaises with Government, National bodies and various training providers, to reflect current and future training requirements within the sector.

ETC has two wholly owned subsidiary companies, Engineering Training Services (ETS) and ETC Awards (ETCAL).

ETC is also the representative in NI for SEMTA, the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Tecnologies..  To go to SEMTA's website click  here
