Armstrong. David (on the right) has just completed the Level 2 ApprenticeshipNI programme and will progress to the Level 3 programme with Belfast Metropolitan College. David, who is employed by Sharpe Mechanical Services on the Sydenham Road, Belfast, is seving an apprenticeship in sheet-metal and welding.

Gavin Watson employed with AVX Ltd in Coleraine is pictured here along with his workplace mentor Davy Wallace. Gavin has just completed his Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance and, also as part of his apprenticeship completed a Foundation Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
This qualification was delivered on a day release basis at the Northern Regional College (NRC) at Coleraine and within the Engineering Maintenance department at AVX Ltd. Gavin is the first Apprentice to achieve a Foundation Degree as part of his apprenticeship. Gavin hopes to continue on with his studies and in the future is looking to develop his career in insurance assessment.

Brian Fitzpatrick, employed by Williams Industrial Services in Mallusk, Newtownabbey has just completed his apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding Engineering. Brian is already thinking about his future and as well as gaining more experience in his current job, he is thinking of studying for higher qulaifications, such as BTEC Higher National certificate. Brian would see himself working in either design or insurance assessment in a few years time.
