World Skills UK Competitions 2010


The World Skills UK Competitions in CAD, CNC and Mechatronics were held in May and June 2010 with the results as follows:

CAD - MICHAEL GALLOWAY wins Gold

Ballymena's Michael Galloway, currently studying a full-time National Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering has won a Gold Award in the UK Final of the Mechanical Engineering CAD (Advanced) Competition. 

Michael is a second year student at the Northern Regional College.  The event took place between the 17th and 18th June 2010 at Motherwell College.  Competitors advancing into the "Higher" category of the CAD competition may get the chance to represent the UK at the WorldSkills Competition in London in 2011. 

The WorldSkills UK, Mechanical Engineering CAD competition is managed by SEMTA, in association with UK Skills and supported by CAD Skills UK and Motherwell College. 



CNC - DAVID NICHOLL achieves 4th place

David Nicholl, employed by Schlumberger, successfully progressed to the UK national final securing fourth place.



MECHATRONICS - CHRIS DOWNEY & MARK MAGINTY win 2nd place
 
Chris Downey and Mark Maginty successfully competed in the Mechatronics UK final and secured second place.
