2011 DEL Essential Skills Awards
Date:
15/04/2011
The 2011 DEL Essential Skills awards took place last month at Hillsborough Castle. The fantastic weather and beautiful surroundings only added to the occasion, as finalists, tutors and guests gathered for the ceremony. Host Sarah Travers from BBCNI commented that it had been a fantastic year with a record number of entries being submitted for each of the six categories,
While still being in our first year of delivering our own ‘in-house’ Essential Skills Provision, Engineering Training Services where delighted to have both our nominees reach the final. Apprentices Kyle Greenlaw and Henry Doherty both from JTI received Highly Commended Certificates at the awards. Henry achieved Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at Level 2 all in on year while Kyle achieved Level 2 in ICT. Both apprentices ICT portfolios where of such a high standard that they are being used by the awarding body CCEA as exemplar templates for other organisations to view.

Essential Skills Co-Ordinator Ryan Connor commented: “As ETS is still a relatively new Essential Skills provider I am delighted that both Kyle and Henry’s achievements have been recognised and all feedback to date has been extremely positive. I think this shows that as a training provider we not only successfully engage and meet our apprentices needs but the apprentices themselves have a great determination to be successful”.
