Employer-Led Modern Apprenticeship Programme
Many
companies experience difficulty in attracting young people of the
required calibre for engineering. Consequently this leads to skill
shortages and therefore growth strategies can be restricted. The
Engineering Training Council is dedicated to supporting Northern
Ireland industry in developing a workforce that is trained to the
highest international standards and was one of the first organisations
in the UK to develop and implement the Modern Apprenticeship Programme.
Modern Apprenticeship programmes provide the basis for a range of occupations at Craft and Technician level and can also lead to higher education or even a degree.
They are designed to allow the apprentice to follow structured on-the-job training supported by periods of skills training and day release with an approved training provider.
Engineering Training Council has developed its own 'employer-led' Modern Apprenticeship Programme. This leads to the achievement of:
NVQ up to Level 3 or 4
City & Guilds or BTEC Awards
Keyskills and a Modern Apprenticeship Certificate are all built into the apprenticeship.
